Collecting fees for online orders

We understand that the evolving tariff landscape presents unique challenges for your business. Workstand does not have technology to incorporate import fees into your website and will not be adding a feature because of cost, complexity, and uncertainty. Our Supplier Sync and Price Integrity integrations do support pricing strategies for suppliers altering MSRP and MAP. 

FAQs

Can I automatically add an import fee to my website checkout?

  • Workstand does not have a feature that adds fees, and we are not aware of any third-party integrations or customization that will do it.

Do you have a way for me to communicate import fees to customers?

  • We’ve prepared content resources that help you communicate with your customers about the import fees from the various brands you sell.
  • Those resources will be messaging only, and you can add most of these resources to your website from the Workstand Library.
  • Any custom messages added to product detail pages will require an additional cost for front-end website development services. 

How should I collect import fees for online orders?

  • Each of our clients has unique business needs, and as such, the content resources in our Library explain to customers that certain products may require the payment of import fees in a separate transaction.
  • Clients could choose to use the Workstand Sales feature to create an order and email as a cart, collect payment over the phone, or collect payment at the time of pickup.
  • Some third-party software services offer features to send invoices to customers separate from your Workstand website.
  • We cannot recommend a specific solution, but intend to share options for you to consider.

Will you be adding an import fee feature?

  • We will not be adding an import fee feature.
  • A project of this magnitude is a big investment that would take several months to complete, and would take resources away from valuable features we are currently working on.
  • Uncertainty around tariff policy and industry pricing strategies increases the risks involved in rushing to change our priorities.

If I add fees in my POS, can I include them in my POS Sync?

  • Our POS Sync integrations do not have the ability to accept data related to additional fees.

Can brands use Supplier Sync to send fees?

  • Our Supplier Sync integrations do not have the ability to accept data related to additional fees.

If a brand changes MSRP and MAP, is my website updated?

  • Brands that subscribe to Supplier Sync can update MSRP on your website for items that you do not have in stock.
  • Supplier Sync does not override your third-party POS pricing, so you will need to maintain your local pricing separately.
  • Brands that subscribe to Price Integrity can update the current MAP on your website regardless of your POS pricing.
  • Both services are recommended for brands wanting to maintain consistent pricing across the Workstand network.
  • Workstand POS users have additional benefits from supplier integration.
