Leading the Next Chapter of Bike Retail

We’ve worked in shops, built retail technology, and partnered with independent businesses for decades. Our leadership brings firsthand retail experience and a deep commitment to the cycling community.

David Wert

President

David Wert brings more than two decades of experience in retail, small business, and e-commerce. His roots are firmly planted in retail—he grew up working in his family’s retail design, merchandising, and build-out business, where early exposure to Midwest small business owners sparked a lasting fascination with what makes a good business tick.

After earning a marketing degree and an MBA, David worked as a retail consultant and went on to own and operate several bicycle retail shops in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He joined Workstand 12 years ago, initially overseeing client relationships before moving into an executive for the past eight years, and ultimately stepped into the role of President in 2025.

David Beck

Director of Development

Dave Beck is the Director of Development at Workstand, where he leads the team responsible for building and maintaining the company's ecommerce, point of sale, and cloud infrastructure. Dave got his start in the bike industry at QBP's distribution center, gaining firsthand insight into how shops operate and how much retailers depend on reliable technology.

He joined Workstand as a junior developer and has grown with the company ever since, focusing on system architecture, developer productivity, and long-term technical strategy. He holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of Minnesota Duluth and a Full-Stack Software Engineer certification from Prime Digital Academy. Dave lives on a farm in Taylors Falls, Minnesota — where a bike is still his preferred way to get around.
